95 Cherokee 4WD Problems
I have a 1995 Jeep Cherokee 4WD 6cyl, 4.0L with an automatic transmission that is having problems with the 4WD.
When I engage 4H it will drive normally. (Not sure if the 4WD is actually engaging or if it's staying in 2WD).
When I engage 4L it acts as if it is in neutral.
If I put the 4WD lever into neutral then move the transmission into park I hear a grinding noise like it's trying to grind into or out of gear.
Any ideas what might be wrong or how I can start narrowing down the problem?

It appears you are correct. Having never adjusted linkage I googled how to do so and made some minor adjustments that helped to get it into 4WD. However, I don't seem to have it adjusted quite right.
Do you have any tips or tricks on how to get it adjusted just right so that when I pull the lever to 4L it's fully engaged? Or is this one of those things where I need to make a little adjustment, try it, adjust again, try again and so on until I have it perfect?
