I bought 2 new rockers for my 95 XJ. A friend said that they can be bonded on rather than welded. Is this difficult to do? Looks like I need to remove the doors, and grind off the old rockers. Looks like a tough job. Anyone have any experience or suggestions?

Sell the replacements, buy 2x4 or 2x6 and weld that in its place!
They will act as rock rails and rockers Awsome mod.

Either way they need to be welded in!

I would say that welding them would be best but im not 100% sure on what your buddy means by bonding.... Welding will be 100% strong and can be done fairly easy if you know how to use a welder.... If you weld it you need to do a tack weld about every 3 to 4 inches across the seams then repeat... this process keeps the metal from worping under heat...

A buddy of mine is in paint/body, he has used the bonding but only on panels like the pick up beds sides, door panels.

Hi

I am new here and am fixing the rocker panels on my 93 XJ. Can you point me in the direction of any pics where the 2x4 or 2x6 mod is shown?

Thanks

Cancel that. I just found a thread that has pics.

c.morris740 did up a thread that shows exactly what I needed to see.

Now it is time to find some 2x6.
