after cleaning my neutral safety switch (nss) my back up lights work again and i can start the jeep in neutral again and wont act up in park, all continuity between each terminal on the nss is correct and tested (b-c in park and neutral, and so on). to remove the nss i put the jeep in neutral without the engine running and put it all back together everthing works as it should except my key wont go in the off position to take it out it just wont turn back any further.
ive been reading on this issue but really cant find a solution what causes this, ive read about a 'park interlock cable' is this what i need to readjust after doing the nss ?
ive tried several things, start in park put in neutral turn engine off shift back tp park that didnt help, wiggling the key while pushing the shifter **** didnt work, tilting the steering wheel didnt help, what else?
edit: this is a brandnew key cylinder installed couple months ago and worked just fine until now

that was good info but it didnt solve my problem, it looks like my lock pin doesnt want to engage into the Off position i have to open the column up to see whats going on.
i can see the lock pin when i have the horn button removed and its not popping out into the lock position when i wiggle the key i see the pin move tiny bit it wants to but its not going ive tried with a tiny hook somehow to get to pull on it but it wont budge. im not at the jeep right now msybe i have a picture later on.
well i did not open the column i gave it another atempt with the first instruction from freegdr and the key popped back in the Off position i must of done something wrong the first time. thats a good feeling heving the key in your hand when you leave your jeep alone for the night hehe
it locked up again the very next day same story so i decided to open the column thinking its inside but i was wrong after dropping the column and removing the brezel of the dash board i could see the top of the column. the park interlock cable snaps onto a joint that leads into the column it was popped off, i snapped it back on and the key came right out. moving the cable the day before must of just push it right for that one time anyway now put it all back together.
