94' xj 4wd question

94' xj 4wd question
I just bought my first jeep a 94' xj 4wd and when I put it in 4 wheel a little light comes on that says part time on the left side of the dash . my question is that supposed to happen or is it supposed to go off. any help will be great thanks you
