94 xj smokes at idle...valve stem seals..??

Smoke is blue smells like oil...engine has no blow by so I don't think rings.only smokes at full temp not when cold.

Could be valve stem seals or worn valve guides or a leak that's dripping on your exhaust how many miles you got on this thing

Has 197,000 on it..rims like a new one...I just wondered if the 4.0 where bad about valve stem seals..??

The valve stem seals are the little umbrellas on top of the valve guide and it keeps oil from entering the cylinder if you plan on doing the seals pull the head off take it to a shop and have a complete valve job done its well worth the 2 to 3 hundred bucks to have it done and then you can check your piston rings
