Wiring should already be in place for the overhead console, just taped up somewhere. Mine wasn't, or was ripped out a while ago in my "very base model" '89 and I just tapped into the wiring for the old quartz clock on the dash. Got lucky, everything works, it even dims!

If anything, the pink and black wires for the dome light should be up there at least, and running down the pillar. Plugging into that will have your lights come on when the door opens.

Don't forget brackets! There are two, one front with three screws and a wider one in the back with 2 screws I think. Any pre-96 with an OC will have these and they SHOULD screw in, mine didnt so I just screwed through the metal where they should have gone.

Should be it, just tackled this and spent a long time figuring it out.

One last thing, temp sensor for OC is under front bumper, there are pics here and write-ups elsewhere that show it.

(not just a reply to the new post but for the necro thread in generL to answer any questions for future searches)

I've got that console in my '92 Laredo. The display for the compass/temperature would intermittently stop working, so I finally pulled the board and took a look. What I found was one of the capacitors had failed/leaked, so I replaced it and a couple of others of the same value. (Radio Shack P/N 272-1028 for the ones that were bad on mine) A word of caution for those who decide to try to fix it yourself, go slow and be careful. There are surface mount parts on the board, but if you're careful it's a fairly straightforward fix. I did find a of damaged trace, but I just ran a jumper around the bad section. Mine has been working great since the fix.

Can someone, please, tell me where the Temp sending unit is and what it looks like?

Console is out of a 92, installing (I Hope!) in a 93.
The temperature sensor for the overhead console on my '99 is behind the front bumper. I don't know if it's different for earlier models.
