Angry 93 cherokee number 9 fuse keeps blowing..

Ive done everything i could possibly think of to fix this problem i disconnected ever component that comes off the number 9 fuse and it continues to blow instantaneously even when keys aren't in the ignition. made me think that the problem was something that is constant like the dome light that is out because of the fuse along with the power locks. i disconnected and fuse still blew i then disconnected everything that comes off that fuse and it still blows. i know that the number 9 fuse wire must be grounding out somewhere and im wonderin if anyone else has had this problem and any idea of where i should check for the grounding wire. also this all was caused by a damn pothole that i hit... damn flint

The radio, power locks, courtesy light, and dome light are out. I've ruled out that any of the wires going to each device are grounding because I had relinquished power to them all. But like I said the fuse will blow even when the keys are out of the ignition, so that leaves the dome light and the power locks or courtesy lights that would be the problem but no cause I disconnected everything off that fuse and it continues to blow. I have one of those multimeter tester things but I want to see if there is an area I should check first for a fire to be grounding. I have already check a lot of wiring. It's a red and purple wire that comes off the 9 fuse from the fuse box. Maybe someone has had this, I've done a lot of research and people have experience electrical issues after hitting a pothole in xj's but I tried everything and the last possible fix is replacing a grounded wire or atleast bypass it for now. Thanks for the response

You got keyless entry ?

I know this thread has been dormant for a while...but I picked up my 94 xj 2 weeks ago and after getting the steering column replaced (it was stolen from the PO and the thief did a number on the column shaft - I hate that I now know how to start a jeep without a key ) and getting the valve cover gasket replaced; the next item was the interior lights and the power lock switch - none were working and I thought these would be two separate circuit issues. Found out the #9 fuse controls the interior lighting, from the dome; to the cargo; to the courtesy under the dash; to the keyless entry module (the little black bulb in the headliner above the rear view mirror). I unplugged all of the components on the circuit and put a fuse in and was releived to see that it didn't blow. I knew then that one of the compoenents was at fault and not faulty wiring. Started from the back of the vehicle plugging the components back and reattaching them to their housing (ie. cargo light back to the headliner). Got them all in except the keyless entry module - I noticed that the circuit board was broken loose from the plastic housing and if placed back in the headliner would actually make contact with the exposed metal roof! Since I don't have a key FOB, I just disconnected the keyless entry module, placed it back in the headliner and I have all of my interior lights!!! And I now have my power locks!!! Evidently the keyless entry module ground was shorting the #9 cicuit and causing the power lock switches to fail.

Yeah I've tried everything and I got excited when you talked about the keyless module being on the same circuit i didn't even think about it so I just checked and after unplugging it still blew after.......

looks like you gonna need to follow the wire thru harness to where it splices to all components .
