93 Cherokee Country Gauge Problem
Was having a little trouble with the speedo in my teens jeep, so I popped out the cluster to check the gauge for grime and the notorious bad connector. There were several loose screws connecting the gauges so I tightened them. Cleaned the connector, put some dielectric grease on connector, and now, the oil pressure, fuel gauge and temperature gauge all peg out to the far right? Just from tightening the electrical contact screws? I'm stumped. Any help would be appreciated

Sounds like either your tightening or your greasing has shorted something togther that should not be.

did you remove the cluster totally? and then you didn't tip it over and upside down at all did ya. they can get screwed up from not being set down right.
I did remove the cluster. The speedo had a little grime on it that caused it to stick on the peg. The gauges respond when they are turned on or the engine is started, but they are totally out of whack. Doesn't seem like magnetic coils should be sensitive to moving around. Afterall, his jeep rides like a tank!
