Default 92 Xj trans band adjustment?

Ok I have a 92 XJ I blew the front pump, I think, The jeep wont move no fluild getting to the cooler, Fluid was black, changed filter no change.

I read somewhere that when you remove the front pump you have to tighten the front band as to keep the innards from going everywhere. So that brings me to the question as to how to do this? The article I saw didnt say how just to do it. So any help will help. Thank you.

Oh if anyone has any other suggestions as to the problem then feel free.

Thank you again.

pump has nothing to do with band adjustments.
ATs usually have diagnostic holes. One of them is to check pump pressure.
Find out which one (FSM), attach pressure gauge, that is it, no big deal.
I don't have FSM for 92.
Which transmission do you have?

So can i change the pump without messing with the bands?

Not sure which tranny I have I will see if i can find the tag 2m when i get home. I pulled it all out today, the Engine, tranny, and t-case.

What happened is this: I drove it around the yard it was fine. i parked it for a week in an out of the way spot in the driveway. left wheel was at full stuff the others were on the ground. when i went to move it that is when my troubles began. now it wont move,

Ok tried to read the tag to find out exactly what tranny i have but its unreadable, the only thing i can read is as follows middle right of screw, 7998
bottom left of screw 90H bottom right 65991

thats it!

on the 2wd tranny I was able to read everything, its a:

30-43le 5210
4780AC
99DE710905

any idea if the front pumps will be the same? the case looks the same, the only thing is the casting mark on the 4wd says 8990 8 and the one on the 2wd says 8990 25

If you have a 2.5 engine you probably have a 30RH. If you have the 4.0 inline 6, it's a AW4.

The "30-43le" on your spare trans means it's a 43LE (AW4), that's how the 2WD AW4's were sometimes marked.

I've only changed one front pump and didn't do anything like that, just pump and seals. I don't know if you are *supposed* to, but no harm came from my not doing it.

Radi - Thank you - Have taken th350s apart and didnt have a problem like that but I was unsure about the jeep and wanted to hear from someone who had done it before.

I talked to a guy tonite that said it sounded as if I blew my TQ converter....Any thoughts?

It seems I've heard a pretty good whine from damaged converters, but like you I've fooled around more with TH350's, not much experience inside an AW4 other than solenoids.
Here's the AW4 manual:

Rockville posted a pressure test page up above, might be a good place to get a couple of answers.

Just a quick update. I changed the pump last night. Will put a different torque converter in it when it goes back together. The flywheel was cracked as well. So it got changed as well. The pump was fairly straight forward. I did find that taking the bell housing off made the job easier. The pump has a couple of threaded hole that i stuck a bolt in and useed as a leaverage point. Once inside i accisently pulled ther planatery gears out so i stuck the assembly out of the other tranny in it. Those came out as one unit....the ones in mine came out in sections. I didnt want to take the time and realign everything back up. Pretty straight forward.

Not sure had to work today, I took the dust shield to work with me to clean it up. The fly wheel scared it up pretty good and sent the aluminum shavings everywhere so didnt want any of that in there. Even tho they cant hurt anything. I will be mating everything up tonite and installing tomorrow afternoon. hopefully its a done deal and I will be wheeling again soon! Will keep you updated.
