My 92 xj has a sunroof, that doesnt work and leaks like a civ. i want to remove it. So i took the brackets off that i thought were holding it up. But its glued in with some sort of sealant and i cant seem to get it off. Anyone know of some ways to remove this POS?

Willing to try anything as long as it doesnt consider using a sawzall or cutting a large hole in my roof.

after you get all the screws and little clip things out you should just be able to yank the trim off. i pulled one off an xj at the junkyard and thats how i did it...

I tried pulling on it, almost could hang myself on the damn thing(i didnt wanna bend my roof or i would have). it doesnt budge at all unfortunately, unless i missed a couple screws somewhere? ill take a look in the morning and post back.

There must be some screws left... Just scan them well so you can see... My wheeling took off his sun roof easily...

You must have missed a couple of screws. Maybe just under the liner inside?

BTW... what the heck are you going to do with that hole once you get the glass out?

either try to leave the glass in and just seal the **** out of it, or put some sheet metal in to fill the hole.

i think i got all the screws out now as i can pull on it lightly and it just bends the roof where the black goo is thats holding it on. i dont know how to get it off, the razor blades i have dont go in far enough to cut all the goo out.

i dont know how else to get it out.

Just to follow up on this, Theres some nuts that are kinda soldered/welded onto the sunroof frame. 7mm socket on the inside, 11 or 12mm on the outside. That got it off, along with my trusty grinder wheel for the front 3 nuts because i couldnt find the inside ones up there.
