Hey everyone, I'm new here so hopefully I'm not asking a question that hasn't been asked a few times already and annoys anyone...

I'm working on rebuilding a 1992 XJ Laredo. The rear hatch closes, latches and opens (sometimes I need to jiggle it a little but it will open). I can't lock it though. The interior plastic is off and I can see the lock mechanism and have tried multiple times to get it to lock but it doesn't. Not sure if I need to get a lock smith to make a new key or if I can take out the lock and replace it if that will work or just get a whole new mechanism (if that's an option). Anyone have any suggestions, I would appreciate them. Thanks!
