Default 92 jeep cherokee front u joints

Ok I have a 92 jeep cherokee 4 wheel drive auto 4.0. want to replace the front wheel u joints not the drive shaft u joints. do i need to open up the front axle housing to get the u joints out? any info please.

no,you just need to pull the hubs

And be careful putting the shafts back in, line them up well or you can tear the axle seals, then you will have to open up the axle housing.

X2 Most people rip the seals an never know it.
