Thumbs down 92 Cherokee Problems :(

I have a 1992 Cherokee Limited that I've put 20k miles on when I got it a year ago. It's been leaking oil but I got the leak fixed or so I thought. I put a new oil filter gasket on it (or rather I paid a shop to do it). And I drove it to work and I got better gas mileage and no more oil leak. I was thrilled. But then I drove it about 80 miles (40 to my college and back on a freeway going 70) and when I got home it was leaking again but this time it was leaking a cappachino (spelling?) colored fluid. My mpg has gone from being fairly great to horrible (I was only using about 2.5 gallons to go 38 miles roundtrip to work now I use 4.5) and no one I knows seems to be able to tell me whats going on. I'd take it into a shop but the last two shops I went to (the only two in my town) that did repairs left my Jeep in worse shape.

I can see where its leaking and its a sliver canister next to my engine (on the passenger's side) towards the back of my engine. It seeps out of there kind of foamy and that coffee with milk color. I'm a college girl with a 18 hour a week job and a family. (my boyfriend stays home baby sitting) and I can't keep putting money into this thing without knowing whats going on.

Do any of you guys know whats going on? I can take pics and post them in the morning.

I believe its my evap canister but why would it be leaking that light colored liquid? Also you can see the liquid on the top, it does leak out of that though because when I turn it off I can watch it oozing out of the line just an inch down from the top.

Thanks! I LOVE my Jeep just getting frustrated with it lol

By any chance have you looked at your air filter recently, is it oil soaked?

The evap canister has a vacuum supply from the intake manifold, also is connected to the air cleaner housing, then the third line is the vapor line from the fuel tank. It could be one of two things. One, excessive engine oil blow by caused by the pcv line that feeds the air cleaner housing, or a combination of excess fuel from a bad check valve on the tank together with the blow by issue.

That is your evap canister and it is pretty much in need of replacing. There are probably a few things going on. First I would find a Junk yard canister. I suspect your CCV system is plugged judging by the front hose off your valve cover being rerouted towards the fender. That hose should go to the nipple on the side of your air box. They rerouted it because it was saturating the air filter.
