Nice. Even if that's not the problem, you probably can't go wrong getting a new O2 sensor at your mileage.

Ya it probably does need a new o2 sensor just going off mileage alone. When I pulled it out to take a look at it the sensor was really white...running lean I think right?

They run at a very high temp so white color is fine.

But if you pulled it out, REPLACE IT. Looking at it doesn't tell you much. They must be tested for response with an oscilloscope or specialized equipment.

They aren't particularly expensive, and they really should be looked at as a maintenance item.

Search for an NTK or Bosch. Ebay = no way for engine management sensors, UNLESS it is a confirmed brand name. No lack of complete crap sensors floating around in "the bay"!

How about a denso o2 sensor? Would that be a good enough brand?

I pulled the check engine flash codes from the jeep last night. Looks like o2 sensor reports too rich/too lean and my tps is out if range???

Try adjusting the TPS before you just replace it. It takes a DMM, screwdriver and a little patience. They are pretty spendy to replace for what they are.

The throttle position sensor is adjustable just on the 87-90. Not adjustable on 91-01.

If you have codes, tell us the EXACT code, not just a description. With codes, the devil is in the details!

*Replace your distributor cap and rotor. Don't cheap out here.

*Put a gauge on your fuel rail and compare your readings to factory spec

*Replace your throttle position sensor.

*Replace that oxygen sensor.

See where you are at after the above.................................time to start wrenching.

Ya I figured replace tps, cap and rotor, and o2 sensor. I have checked EVERYWHERE for vacuum leaks. I literally have replaced every hose that even looked worn and every rubber elbow and connector on the jeep.

One thing I noticed is I plugged the o2 sensor back in today and it started stuttering again but NO backfires at all
