91 XJ issues
Hey guys/girls, new to the forum and so far it is great, tons of info.
I apologize now for the long post...
Well, my three main concerns (there are a lot more than just three) with my new purchase, 91 Cherokee Laredo, 4x4, 4.0, auto, lifted on 33's, is that 4Lo doesn't work, it seems to shift but acts like it is in neutral. When I bought it, the rear driveshaft was missing and part of the slip yoke was broken in the tail housing. The first thing I am going to do is look at the linkages while someone shifts the TC.
Along the same lines, my Full-Time and Part-Time lights flicker when I am in 2wd coming to a stop or idleing along, under 5mph.
Finally, when the Jeep is cold, I have a major hesitation on acceleration, after it warms up it seems to drive fine, has hesitated maybe twice ever when warmed up. It feels like fuel is cut completely, the car jerks, eventually will get moving. It doesn't make a difference how much throttle I am giving it. I checked fuel pressure and it is 38-41 while driving, even when it starts hesitating/jerking...
Any thoughts or advise would be greatly appreciated.

For the first two, im thinking your T-case has major internal damage. Since the slip joint was broken off in it, someone may have dropped it on a rock or something while wheeling. Looked at it when sold it. I would open it up and check it over, and inspext the tranny externaly as well.
For the engine issues, im thinking crank position sensor or throttle position sensor.

There is a code 62 which is something about emissions memory or something. Couldn't really find much info about that code.
When I got the jeep, the vacuum line to the MAP was just a clear hose that basically pinched closed when running. I replaced that with proper vacuum line but no change...

So this hesitation thing is bugging the crap out of me. I just tried a good known (at least I was told it was) MAP sensor, because to me, it seems like it is acting like either a bad MAP or bad O2. The "good" MAP didn't make a difference. It is worse when the car is cold, but the other night, when it was kinda cold out, it acted up a few times when it was at operating temperature. Once it died on me when I came to a stop at a light. Started right back up no problem after that.
Does anyone have any ideas?

So I replaced the O2 sensor, the wires were pinched. I replaced the MAP sensor from a buddies XJ that I know runs good. Coolant temp sensor has proper resistance, the gauge still doesn't work though. I am lost.

Can't find a thread with pics, but it's about the same size as the one up front and should have a single wire clip plugged into it. If you're lucky it is the issue and the clip came off like it did with mine a while back lol. It's called a Temperature Sending Unit or TSU

Thanks. Yeah, that would be sweet if that is why my temp gauge isn't working. PO installed an aftermarket temp gauge and plugged the sending unit where the coolant temp sending unit goes, on the front of the engine, and the stock sending unit was just laying next to the fuel rail...
I don't see how that could cause my hesitation issue though, unless I am mistaken.

It is fuel injected. If I rev it up in neutral there is no stumble, seems to be only when there is a load on it.
