I replaced the brake pedal switch and originally it did nothing but then I ran a constant power to one of the wires in that switch and it ended up working. As a side effect though now when I run my wipers it turns my dome lights on and if I go with them on delay they go off and on with the wipers...lol ohh well!

I had the exact same problem! Headlights, park lights, turn signals all work but not the brake or flashers.
I had a red wire with a inline connection that ran from the positive side of the battery terminal to the fuse/relay box under the hood. It had broke from the terminal and was hanging down from the box to the fender well.
You may check that and the inline connection

hey thanks alot im gonna check on that now..so what did you do just reconnect to where it broke and secure it or did you just replace it?

UPDATE: i checked and im wondering what size wire it was and what it might look like? i found a few wires with like clips on the end of them that didnt go to anything and i couldnt see if they came from the terminal... im at work and dont have a flashlight so im gonna check tomorrow but if you could let me know that would be great thanks...

Default I had this problem. this fixed it

There is a 20 amp fuse in the fuse box under the hood by the battery. It is a very large 20 amp fuse in the middle. That should fix your problem. It fixed mine.

Thanks for the idea, I was having the same problem and just removed one bolt on the floorboard and wiggled the fuse box and my brake lights and hazards are working again. Again thanks!

Default Similar brake light issues

I'm having similar issues, turn signals, parking lights even hazards work on my 90 BUT no brake or reverse lights. I think the reverse lights are due to needing to adjust the shifter (Full time lights up all the time) but haven't been able to get under it yet to check it out. The brake light issues the big thing right now though. I checked all the wiring, even replaced on socket on the drivers side, changed all the bulbs and still no brake lights, switch has power to it. Any other ideas?

Talking I hae brake lights!

Yesterday I finally got a brakelight switch, put it in and brakelights are back
I did discover that one issue I had is the steering column has been replaced. The original had cruise control, this one didn't and the connector to the brakes and cruise control was the real problem since the "system" wasn't connected to anything it caused the brake lights not to work. I have the same issue in my 87, we even rewired the brakelights in that thing. Unplugged the brakelight to cruise control and bingo that one has brakelights again! Unreal, I'd have never thought of the cruise control affecting it!

This post has been full of useful information to me - My brakelights dont work, and Ive been going through many of the same things - ultimately seeing gaps in my fusebox where chilton tells me there should be fuse - glad to know Im not the only one.

My brakelights are out - everything else works - hazards, blinks, running lights - so its getting power back there, just no signal to activate the brake portion - so, I bought a brake sensor, thinking mine was dead, plugged it in and still no go.. all the bulbs work - I wonder if the combined minds here can provide some illumination?

Ok I have no brake lights or hazard lights on a '92 Cherokee.

Running lights work
Turn signals work
Bulbs good
Fuse good

Any ideas?

Couldn't find the fuse under the dash cause not labeled..

But swapped fuse under hood for the hazards seeing I'm getting mixed stuff say it's part of the curcit also..

I'll check under the dash again..

So it's not labeled?
