Default 91 xj coolant temp sensor

I swapped out my old gauge cluster for one with full instrumentation and i had to swap the oil pressure sensor for one to work with the gauge. The problem is I need to do this with the coolant temp sensor too but I cant find it. Does anyone have a picture of where it is

'96 down, the gauge sending unit is toward the rear of the head drivers side by the valve cover.

Since its a 91 HO it should be attached to the thermostat housing. 84-90 is the rear of the block.

I have a 91 HO and my temp sensor is on the driver's side, rear of the head.
There is a separate sender, for the ECU, on the thermostat housing.

SENDER for gauge. SENSOR for the engine management system.

91 has the SENDER at the rear of the head as do models through 96?

SENSOR is mounted on the thermostat housing.

The sensor in the t-stat cover signals the ECU. '97 up heads lost the gauge sending unit, in the rear driver's side, and use the coolant temp sensor in the stat. '97 up the ECU signals all idiot gauges/lights....'96 down have sending units that signal idiot gauges/lights.

Thanks for the clarification. So when the body style changed, so did the sender/sensor.

Thanks for clarifying my mistake. I made an assumption and I was wrong.
