91 Cherokee sputter when accelerating
I bought a 91 Cherokee a few months back and it's been great except for the fact that there is a sputter when I try to accelerate too quickly or when I'm going up hills occasionally (usually when I try to accelerate up hills). I was just curious if anyone else had the same problem and if they knew what the reason behind it was?

Lots of possibilities. When you have driveability issues, best to review basics.
1. When was the last tuneup? Fresh Champion spark plugs gapped to .035, quality plug wires, distributor cap, rotor and fuel filter. Check/replace air filter.
2. Have you ever seen a check engine light? If so, you must retrieve codes for clues and guidance on where to look.
3. Verifying fuel pressure never a bad idea. Must be done with a fuel pressure gauge which can be rented inexpensively from many parts stores. For a 91, you should have 31 psi at idle. Then disconnect the vacuum line leading to the fuel pressure regulator and the pressure should jump to approximately 39 psi. Be sure that there is no raw fuel in that vacuum line. If there is, that indicates a ruptured fuel pressure regulator.
Good luck and keep us updated!
