90' xj fuel leaking from injectors
I tracked the fuel smell to the injectors. Its leaking from the lower 0-ring area and possibly top too. It was bad today when i first started it. There was a puddle underneath the jeep so shut it off. I can't afford injectors now, but I want to replace all the o-rings to see if that helps stop the leak for now.
I picked up oem o-rings from the dealer so i can replace them today while i'm off. Only 22 bucks, it was worth it since i could get them same-day.
The injectors are stock oem so i figure these oem 0-rings could help stop the fuel leak.
Going to try and replace them today.

I replaced all the o-rings for the injectors today but when the jeep started up it was misfiring so i shut off the engine. jeep is a 90' with oem injectors. I pulled the whole rail out and what i did was remove the injectors from the wire harness one at a time, replace o-rings with new and pushed them into the fuel rail. Once i had all six in i lubed up the bottoms, lined them up and pushed them in. I did try to clean a little in each hole. Could some of that carbon build-up fall in the hole and cause this? I double checked the wires to the injector to make sure i did not mix them up. Does it have anything to do with the fuel line? I cranked it over a few times before starting to get fuel back into the line.
The engine was running normal today. The fuel was leaking from the lower o-rings it appeared. Now with the new o-rings it sounds like its misfiring.

OEM 53003956 $62/ea
Siemens 503030778 $38/ea - http://www.injectorwhse.com/servlet/...Numbers/Detail
Bosch 0280155703 $24.99/ea - http://www.fuelinjector.citymaker.co...25/4735791.htm
It seems like any of these would work, i'm going to go with the cheapest (bosch 0280155703).

Try turning the key to ON listen for the fuel pump to prime them release the air from the check valve on the fuel rail. I picked up 6 injectors from a totaled XJ in the JY with 75K on it for $25.

You think its worth it to pull injectors from from the JY considering the year of the jeep?

Its not extremely common, but it does happen. Youd pry be fine getting some new ones from the junkyard, or get some upgraded ones for about 60 (dont remember what kind)

I think the OP is looking for the most cost effective fix. I pulled injectors from a 96 HO 4.0 and they were the same as my 89 Renix 4.0. If I were you I would look for injectors from around the mid 90s with low miles and call it good.

the most cost effective would be jy 703 injectors better throttle response and idle and new injectors its a win win i paid 30 dollars for all six from u pullit yard

I know the 96 will plug-n-play with my 90 but isn't that the wrong psi to run? Or did i misunderstand your post!
I'm going to swing by the JY tmrw so i want to try and get some clarification if i'm hunting down anything newer than a 90? Say i come across a 96' 4.0, is that going to work with my 90?

Which year/model motor did you pull the 703's from? Doesn't sound like the neon since you pulled six. Did you have to mod anything?
I know the neon has the same connector type, was it 95-97 2.0L? I'm wasn't sure if any of the ford injectors swap over and connect with no mods?

they come from more than neon
pull as many as you nee until you find six that are clean you need a 13 mm socket a 3/8 extension about 6inchs long and rachet side cutters two in case theres any wires attacheted and small screw driver
