Default 90, Pass side Cowling leak, hole punch question.

At first I thought it was my defroster( edit! AC>drain, but it got soaked on the right after a rain. So I hit it really good with a hose. pic 1

Then I caught it dripping around the vac motor. pic 2

Then my drill got stuck winding up the carpet padding, so I "popped" a hole the size of the end of my pinky with a slug, I thought. Am I doing this right?

Seems to be a hole in the driveway too.

Guess I just go into the cowling from above...is it rotted? Plugged up? is there a 22 year old gasket shot ?(no pun intended).

I gotta' finish fixing this up!

You gotta stop watering it like that, it isn't going to grow any bigger.

All sorts of leak possibilities. I'd start by looking over the cowling for bad seals or cracks.

So I haven't pulled the wipers and gone "down" into it yet, but I did find an explanation as to why my planed smaller hole came out a bit bigger. Guess I hit a plug that was there. I found this in the driveway a couple days later.

I had the same problem. I went in from the top, used a die grinder to cut a square big enough for my hand. I used rtv to goup up where the gasket should be, around the cold air intake. For closure i welded small strips of metal the the sides of the peice i cut out and a spare peice of scrap to the center of the top. Then while holding that tab i used some self tapping screws to secure the metal in the hole. Thank god no more leaks!!!!! Hope this helps!!

No wonder you could get it so wet. Drinking them Tall Boys!!!

Pull the cowl grille and look for cracks in the body sealer.

Much thanks to you both. Man! We just got hammered by storms that don't show on your news. Sort of usual, or 75 MPH wind is not so rare here. Man, , that was a seine. Since I'm "off grid" my power doesn't normally go out. The creek go so high it broke a line to my hydro wheel though! No big deal, but sheez. In 30 years I never saw that.

OK, as suggested I will pull the wipers and cover and see what i can see. And anyone following, use a .22 and/or find that plug with the ears. Guess the 20 G, hollow point slug might not be optimum.

It turned into a long, nauseating story. It was both my blower gasket, (which I didn't hose long enough on the first try), ( I guess it needs to fill somewhere before it leaks), AND this seam between the fender and body. I chopped up my cowl for nothing! For the the blower gasket I just put a piece of tubing on a calking tube of plain old silocinised acrylic calk, to apply, then smeared it around good by hand. I also used that on the fender/body opening. The hole for the hood hinge also was suspect, (it will leak if you hose it there), there are drain holes right above it for the hood gasket, I sealed both. Anyway this spot was the main problem.
