Default Same Problem

I am having the same problem with my 96 Cherokee, it will turn over, but im not getting any spark from the coil. I hooked up a diognostic machine to it to see if it would find anything and it wouldn't connect to the brain. So I was told the brain is probably bad. My question is if I goto the junk yard and get a differnt one would I have to send it in to have it programmed for my jeep or should it work. Thanks in advance for any help, also i'll probably be on here alot, got the jeep for free, its been sitting for a year, also the guy said that he replaced the fuel pump and he hooked up a wire from the battery to the pump to see if it was working and it sparked and since then it hasn't ran. Again thanks in advance.

I feel your pain. I put in a new coil and cps, checked the distributor, jumped the ballast, unplugged and replugged every connector I could find, checked fuses, changed relays etc. and still no spark. I would like to swap the computer but can't afford to keep throwing money away. My 91 is about to get set on fire.
On yours you could try jumping the ballast. Just use a clip lead or a spade fuse.
Good Luck!
