90 Cherokee Stuck in Park
my 90 Cherokee's shifter seems to be stuck in park but when the key is set on the "ON POSITION' it works freely and smooth. But when you try and shift when the car is on it wont move. Having the mechanism open you can see a cable tightens up as you change from on position to when you try and start the jeep. Anyone else have this problem plz help!!!

I cannot comment if that is your problem or not. But I can comment on the ease of replacing the ignition switch, which is what the rod connects too. It is on top of the steering column. Pretty easy to remove and inspect to see if you are having problems with the rod. Remove lowest portion of dash. Then remove the bolts that hold the steering column up. And then it is visible.
If you are worred about that being the problem then take a look at it. Like I said it is pretty easy to inspect prolly take 30 minutes to do.
