Ive got a 90 4.0l auto with the renix system. Guy I bought it off of parked it since 04. Ran when he parked it he used it as his DD and a control arm bracket or something broke so he parked it. Well needless to say I bought it for $250 with 160,000miles on it. I couldnt pass it up.

So it cranks and cranks and after 5 min of off and on cranking it will fire up but it only revs up to about 1500 and then shuts off. If i hold the pedal flat to the floor it will rev to about 2500 and then die.

I took off the throttle body and cleaned that and the TPS and other sensor right there. Most of the vac lines seem to be alright. I have been reading alot and seems alot of us with the renix are having the same problems. Has anyone figured anything out? Anything will help. Thanks.

Do you hear the fuel pump running when you turn the key on,the fuel pump relay is known to go bad,when they do it'll die right after startup

yea i can hear the fuel pump run when i turn the key on. wasnt sure which fuse it was so i just replaced one at a time and tried starting it each time but still the same as before.

It seems for every 5 min of cranking and having it start and shut of, one time it will start and run horrible and idle real low and shake and sputter. it will stay running on its own for about a minute or so but as soon as you touch the pedal it dies. then it will just crank and crank.

Have you changed the. Filters after 6 years sitting could be plugged ,do you have good fuel pressure

No i havent changed the filter yet. i pressed in the thing on the fuel rail and it really sprayed out so im assuming there is good pressure there.

i checked the codes to see if that could tell me anything but the check engine light isnt even on. So this might not be the case but if there are no codes showing up the it cant be that major of a problem fuel filter fuel pump maybe something of that manor. has new plugs but from cranking and cranking loading up with fuel they might be fouled.
