89 Maintenance Timer

Do these effect economy? Apparently a previous owner took it out and never put it back.

Don't have one. I just noticed in my Haynes today it saying something about a Maintenance timer that you have to replace along with your O2 sensor.

i just went and looked for my timer box and found it unplugged and when i went to plug it in the light came on so i guess my mechanic never replaced it when i had a hole new system put on 5yrs ago. Cant wait to go up there tomorrow and ***** him out b/c I keep all recites and was told nothing about a timer box and its past 86,000 mi which is when the timer goes off

The timer is pointless just toss it. Most people do.
