I have a 89 jeep cherokee ,no air cont. I,m replacing my rad and was wondering about cutting the tranny line and just using clamps for the rad. I know is has been on the forum before but some of the hoses are different. Here is a pic. Where do I cut , the hose or the steel line.
I did remove the clip and it stayed on the rad line but is ok. It fits back in and doesn,t pull out of the tranny line. Should I just reuse it ? Sorry if I forgot something but am in a hurry ,is cold here and getting colder and going to snow ina couple of days.
I cut the rubber hose off the steel line and replaced it with regular ol' transmission hose. The metal collars are just fancy clamps. I used two clamps per end, fuel injection style. There's only on the order of 60 psi of pressure on the cooler circuit.
I've since replaced the steel lines with AN adapters in the transmission and upper radiator, AN fittings, regular ol' hydraulic hose and one of these at the lower radiator fitting
Make sure you inspect those trans lines all the way back. They tend to wear through where they're held by metal straps along the passenger side of the oil pan. Probably a little late, but I would have suggested getting a 1992 radiator with the filler neck and converting to the open setup.
