Default 89 cuts out while driving...

It's weird, I'll just be driving along and the engine will cut out for a split second, enough to kinda jerk the whole vehicle and then back to normal. The tach falls when it happens and sometimes it will do it up to a dozen times. Usually it happens shortly after I leave and it doesn't do it every time. I was thinking CPS but are there any other possible causes? Anyone ran into that before? Thanks!

X2! I had similar symptoms once. My CPS wire was flopping around and melted on the exhaust. I was driving past Imperial Dunes and I conked out on the highway. Praise God I didn't get plowed over by a big rig.

This was happening on my buddies Tahoe. Easy fix in his case, it was the terminal connections coming loose off the batterie. I think he just replaced the battery terminal wires. Pretty obvious and probably not your problem, but worth checking if you haven't.

Mine did the same thing twice now, once was the hose clamp on the rubber hose on the pick up tube for the fuel pump was loose and sucked a ton of air below 1/2 tank, i replaced the clamp problem gone for 2 or 3 years. And once was the rubber grommet on the throttle body for the map sensor was leaking due to age and the rubber got hard. I moved the map sensor vaccum to the intake mani and capped the throttle body hole.
