Unhappy 89 cherokee headlight problem! please help

My girlfriend parked the jeep working fine. 4 hours later the battery is dead. she says lights werent left on wich i believe cuz of the loud buzzer. couldve been an interior light left on by accident. idk. all of my other lights work! parking lights, tail lights, brakes, all signals, everything works but the head lights. no power at the bulb connection. my hi-low beam switch has always been broken but hasnt hindered the headlights from turning on. theyre stuck in low beam position. Please help. if anyone has had this issue your experience and advice would be well appreciated!

Once had an issue on a 92 caravan where the headlights didn't work. It was the high/low beam switch.

Same on a foxbody Mustang once, multifunction switch was to blame. Doesn't make sense since they were working before, but still doesn't rule it out.

Question

okay so i checked the hi low beam switch on the steering column. i i push the lever forward they turn on. let go and they turn back off. no low beams im guessing. would this be the headlight switch its self? or the hi/low beam switch?

well it ended up being the headlight switch. connections on top of switch that you cannot see because its in the dash get hot as hell and over time break, burn up, or lose connection. if you wanna be cheap sauder it together or replace it for 17 bucks. thank you all for the help! forums work!
