couple of cheap mods off the top of my head would be to bore out your TB and get a high flow cat along with a high flow exhaust.

boaring the TB is making the throttle body bigger in diameter, a lot of people bore them out to 60mm.

was that the info you were unsure of or was it the exhaust info?

ok well i answered the TB question, it is your throttle body, the metal thing on the other end of your air intake.

high flow cat is a catalitic converter but allows more air flow. and the high flow exhaust is similar to the dynamax exhaust system.

As long as it is ok to exchange the link to another forum there is an excellent tech section on another site. pm me and i ill send it to you. I have learned quite abit from it. Don't forget though you have the biggest knowledge base there is, asking any and all questions on the forum and the internet. Speaking for myself i will answer any question to the best of my ability, all you gotta do is ask. If i don't have an answer i generally have a good idea where to find one. I will help out anyway i can.

I have a Dynomax catback on my 96. The only reason I bought it was because Autozone wanted the same cash for a stock one. I'm a big fan of stock under the hood. Myabe its me but, I think the stock 4.0 rips the way it is. If I wanted go fast I'd build an old hotrod.

Go find a trail in the woods and put it in 4 low, you'll forget all about speed.

yea i agree the 4.0 is a torquey engine. mines a 99 so its the 4.0L HO or watever so it makes 225ftlbs of torque at 3k rpm... not bad.

ALso, hiow would i go about boring out my throttle body and what kinda of gas mileage increases would i expect from my 5 speed?

Yea, a 4.0 in a XJ, YJ, TJ or whatever will liquify rear tires with no problem.

I used to play with 5 litre mustangs a few years ago. And I've seen guys use a Demel tool to open throttle bodies up. Takes some time but it does work.
