hello all,

im still trying to get my 88 running, was hoping replacing the fuel pump would do it, heres where im at...

sensors test good.
getting spark.
getting fuel.
vacuum lines good.

when i go to start it, it turns over good and i can hear a chuck intermittently. spits alot of black soot out the tail pipe.

any ideas???

 

ill be more specific...
tested tps, cps, knock sensor.
reran vacuum lines, good
reran spark wires, good
tested fuel relay and starter soliniode, good
tracked down bad fuel pump, rubber melted off allowing +post to ground out. stuck a spare piece of fuel line in tank for an hour or 2 to test curosivness of fuel, within that time the submerged hose began to soften and delaminate. pumped out fuel tank, gas was orange colored and smelt similar to acetone.
replaced fuel pump.


so now i have spark, fuel at rail (not sure exact psi but seems strong when valve pushed)
engine turns over but dosnt fire. lots of black soot coming out of tail pipe and spark plugs are covered on soot too.
