hello friends.
well after over a month of messing with my 600 dollar non running 88 xj, she finaly came to life last night! thanks to every body who helped me out on this forum!
the final fix was indexing the distributor. timing was 180 degrees off.
so now its running, and it drives great. lots of power, good acceleration.
the only thing is, im having an emissions issue.
idles very low , so much so that it stumbles a bit.
when i pull the a vacuum line off the idle shoots up high.
brakes are soft.
the sensor on the thermostat housing is not plugged in, cant locate the plug.
lots of sot out of exhaust pipe.
i did the renix sensor diagnostic test that is floating around this forum, and they seem to check out.
Any ideas?
cant thank you guys enough!

I fixed the low idle with tps adjustment. As for the stumble I have it too and I'm 99.9 percent sure its the injectors. Will be changing them tomorrow.
