Default 88 XJ Manual Tranny question

My 88 XJ has a 5spd, 4.0, I am trying to figure out if it is a Puke-O, ax-5, or ax-15. Anything I can look for?
Thanks

My '88 Laredo has 300,012 miles on it (!!!) and the 'goat is still in there, and NO, I DO NOT baby it...street duty, towing and (my favorite) trail use. I run 31's with 3.55 gears and still turn in around 22-23 MPG on the Interstates. It has survived clutch drops from around 3-3500 rpms', teaching my wife and my oldest son to drive a stick, and me just beating on it LAPD style. Every once in awhile, I have to add about a 1/4 qt. of oil to it, but that is all.

Default They do like to mark there teritory

I changed the oil just after I bought it a year and a half ago. checked it this summer because of the drip, only took about a 1/2 cup to top it off. I thought it was worse by the look of the driveway.
But then I was driving the freeway 400 miles every other weekend last winter too turning high rpms in 4th pulling long grades. not good on a 20 year old rig of anysort I know!!

The BA-10 is not that bad. I had one as well, and it shifted smoothly and ran quietly for 190,000+ miles, and then I sold the Jeep. It still works fine, and it didn't get babied either. It gets a bad wrap, but I don't know that it deserves it!! If it still works, run the crap out of it!! Keep the oil changed regularly and it should work for a long while!! The only draw back, is that to change the slave cylinder, you have to drop the tranny. Other than that, it's a decent box, IMHO!! I'm sure others will disagree, but in my experience, it was a great tranny!!
