88 comanche no reverse lights
Done everything I could think of and I still can't get my reverse lights to work. It's a 88 comanche 4.0 5speed short bed. I've cleaned the rear tail light harness connector. Replaced the trans fuse a few times. Cleaned the connector on the drivers side of the trans. Anything I'm missing?

Replaced bulbs. Cleaned all the connectors and connection points. How would I be able to test the switch on the transmission?

Some people say they still have a NSS, some say its called a clutch safety switch. If his was faulty the jeep wouldn't start at all, but i suppose it could be gunked up just enough to cause the light issue.
You could try popping a bulb out and throwing a multimeter on the socket and see if it gets any voltage when in reverse. I am willing to bet its that NSS at this point, do you need to put the clutch down to start the truck?

It's a 88 and I can start it without clutch. Even if its still in gear. When jumping the connector on the trans the reverse lights work.

Sounds like you need a new switch then. Does your 88 have the stock BA/10 tranny?
