88' Cherokee fuel gage not working

88' Cherokee fuel gage not working

So I replaced my fuel pump and filter, and now my fuel gage isn't working and my fuel light stays on. Anybody have any tips on what this might be and how to fix it?

Knock the wires off the sending unit putting it back in?
