88 4.0 head swap to 94 HO 4.0
I just recently purchased an 88 cherokee with a 4.0 automatic and it needs a new head. I was able to get a HO head out of a friends 94 xj that he recently rolled. I am new to jeeps and do not want to try to customize fuel rails etc. I was hoping to just bolt the HO head on my motor and use only renix parts. Is this possible? I read somewhere that the intake is not the same. Please help......

Well I took a 89 block and put a 91 HO head on it. Runs like a top. But it is in a 91 Limited so I used everthing that bolts to the head again.
Everything I've been able to find out says you should be able to do this.
Why not take the whole long block and swap it over? Or are you geting the head rebuilt for the 88 block?

I dont have the whole HO motor, although i could get one, but my only concern with just bolting the HO head on my 88 is that i keep reading about how the manifold on my 88 is not at the same height as a 94. If you did this very swap, was there any power loss? Did you have to do any modification or did you just bolt on a HO head and use all renix parts other than the head? Thanks for the responses.
