My new XJ runs fine once you get going, but when idling it feels weak and pulsates. Also when i hit the gas from a stand still, it takes a second or two to start driving. Any ideas?

Ya, That's what I was kinda thinking. I havn't looked into the swap. But seems like you would need the whole Ho engine right? Because of the different sensors. Wiring harness, computer, etc...
When i had my Cherokee with the Renix injection, it ran good and had plenty of power, I never felt the need for the HO engine.

i know i need to keep the wiring and ECU and all that stuff, and as far as i knew, i needed the head not the block, because the head allows more displacement of the pistons. I'm not sure and by the way my uncle is a mechanic and he's going to be helping me, i'm not willing to tear my old XJ apart to take shots in the dark if you see what i'm saying lol. I'm only 17 and i'm young and dumb:/

So maybe you should just stay with a Renix!
Nothing wrong with them IMO easier to fix and you don't have dummy lights going off for ever small issue.
I don't know if there is a big enough difference in power to warrent a swap for the HO. I will with other Jeep all the time with HO and I go just as easy as they do.

I have the Exact same rough idle and throttle response as the starter of this thread in this 87' XJ waggy I just picked up....I already did the O2 sensor and stuck in a new air filter...Suppose now I'll do the cap....think maybe new injectors may smooth it out?
