Default 87 XJ headlight problems

I'm having some issues with my headlights. I can drive for a few minutes with them on, then they start to flash off and on. Sometimes it takes a minute or two for them to come back on. Turning the switch off and on again sometimes makes them come back on quicker, but not every time. It doesn't make a difference if I have the high beams or lows on, it does it either way. And its only the headlights, all the other lights stay on with no problems.
From what I've found searching, there is no relay for the headlights. And the switch itself is new. Am I right in thinking it's a wiring problem, and I'll probably need to buy a harness? That's an upgrade I've been planning on doing anyways, but if it could be something else, I really need to fix the problem, since most of my driving is in the dark. Any help would be appreciated.
Its my 87 2.5 Cherokee Pioneer, btw.

Next time it does it reach under and feel the head light switch. I bet that it is hot. More then likely it's going out or the connections are melting and shorting out or both.

Headlight switch isn't getting hot, I've already checked that. All the connections on the switch are good too

Switch is probably going bad.

Click on the link in my signature and go to post 3. The connector that the General is describing is there.
