i found this today surfing craigslist to try and find me a XJ.

is there anything speacial about the pioneer's?
is it work the extra 200 bucks verses the ~800 i can find them for in my area?

Entirely up to you. The Pioneer didn't see anything different drive-line wise if thats what you're asking. (at least not to my knowledge)
