87 Laredo power window questions
My driver's power window is dead. Switches are OK as are wires up to the point where they corroded away from the motor. Now my problems are:
1) figuring out how to connect wires to a seriously corroded motor- ie contacts are toast. How hard would it be (or how bad an idea would it be) to partially dismantle motor housing to find decent wires/contacts to test motor and - hopefully - reconnect the wires?
2) if window motor is dead or if it is impossible to test it in place, I'm going to have to get the thing out. Does anyone know of a good guide to doing this? I only have a Haynes manual which, while generally good, is completely useless for this job
3) are front/rear motors interchangeable? In other words, until I can source a reasonably priced used motor, could I swap the working rear motor into the front door?
Thanks much!
