87 4.0 Stalls in reverse
Here's a puzzler. Today, for the first time, immediately after I start it, put the brake on and move to reverse, it stalls. If I hold my foot on the brake and move to D, it's fine. If I move from D, then R, it's fine. I worked on my fuel injectors last night, changing the o-ring on my regulator that was leaking a little at the rail. Other than that, I can't see anything to do this. Could it be the TPS needs adjusting?

No-Checked that and right to the line. Could the Neutral/Safety switch be acting up? Can't figure out why it doesn't stall with brake on in Drive or when switching to reverse after it was in drive. I'm going to calibrate the TPS in the morning anyway. I adjusted the throttle linkage but it seemed ok.

This problem started just before I had an issue with the starter. My wife complained it wouldn't start and I found the starter dangling by one bolt. Could there be something going on with the flywheel and starter? It sounds ok when driving but sometimes at idle, it sounds a little rough running. Still stalls everytime the PRNDL is in R. If I give it a little gas, I can get out of the driveway but the coast has to be clear because if I let off on the gas, it just stalls dead. Could it be the torque converter locked up when it shouldn't be?
Running out of things to check.

Id try it with the NSS unplugged and again with the TCU unplugged (or fuse pulled) to see if anything changes. That should rule out the TCC as it won't operate.
If you go from park to N, and then to R, does it still stall?

Will try the NSS unplugged. It stalls whenever its in R. Another person has said it could be a worn crankshaft thrust bearing that causes the flex plate to move away from the CPS. I might try changing the CPS as I've got one. Hearing lots of people that say to get the CPS from MOPAR but I've already got one from Rock Auto so have to try that first.
