'85 XJ Pioneer Oil Filler Cap; Can't find replacement that fits.
Model: 1985 XJ Pioneer
Engine: 2.8L V6 (the WORST)
I recently managed to lose my oil filler cap somewhere along the road; it was damaged and didn't fit TOO securely (obviously). After weeks of searching auto parts stores, the internet, and even a Jeep dealership I have concluded that no one knows where to find one of these damn things.
Every one I've seen is too wide to fit in the tube, twists in, isn't long enough to secure itself, or simply is shaped wrong.
The one I lost was about 2 inches long and seemed to be made of rubber (if not just rubberized). It just popped into place and fit snugly. I think that the hole is 1" to 1.5" wide. I'd check if not for the rain. Lol.
Has anyone ever found a replacement?? My exhaust is absolute bollocks (of course) so I keep literally burning the rag I have stuffed in the hole for the moment. I plan to replace the whole bloody Jeep once I fix it enough to sell it or find something I can otherwise afford, but for the moment it's my Point A - Point B runner; I need to continue fixing it up.

Neither of them even fit in the hole. They're both twist in as well. Lol. Autozone, Orielley, and Bumper to Bumper all tried them.
The S10 cap looks like it might. I bet it's some AMC generic component that they mass produced just long enough to find something with which to replace it. Lol.

Random idea.... what about those rubber bilge plugs (I think that's the name) that are used in boat hulls and you turn them and the rubber expands to seal the hole?

Lost me there Firestorm. He has a Rag stuck in his oil filler. I'd assume the 2.8 has a crankcase vent?
Oops.
