85 cherokee, guage / dash bulbs blown
i'm working on an issue that i've had since i bought my 85 cherokee. All of the guage lights are out; lights behind the heater... all of them. Pulled all the bulbs out from behind the guages, and they are all blown. My first thought was to check the fuse, but strangely it was intact. Replaced it anyways. A little background... the cd player was obviously replaced, and it's clear that it wasn't done correctly. I'm sure it has to do with the problem. However, I do not fully understand the electrical wiring and do not know what I would look for. The notification lights to the left of the steering wheel work, the ones that indicate low washer fluid, parking brake, etc. as well as the headlights. So I guess my first question is what would i look for behind the cd player, and secondly, would I need to replace all of the guage bulbs for any of them to work? Do they complete a circuit only when they are all intact? This problem is really annoying at night.....
Another thought, I've seen some posts referring issues with the guage lights to the wiper switch, but i didn't know if that info was relevant to such an older model. Also, i didn't find much about the bulbs all being burnt out. Thanks in advance for any responses.
