Default 84-2001 XJ Receiver Hitches Question

Found two hitches at the jy. A 93' and 95'

I wanted to know if an XJ hitch is universal through the years or if they changed the bolt on pattern and mounting space.

I'm looking to install it on a 1998 Xj.

Any info appreciated

To my knowledge the frame rails, mount holes and nut strips should all be the same for the years you're looking. I would stick with the 95 as it's closer to the year of your xj and possibly has less wear. IMO

how hard are they to remove? is it just several bolts off and then back on? or is welding required? and do u need a special bumper, or will a stock non-hitch bumper work?

the stock bumper will accept it all you need to do i remove the bolts holding it on to the frame rails but you have to get the nut strip and the so can mount it on yours and the are torqued down fairly well i would get some pb blaster and a breaker bar(steel tube works to)

I took the one off my '95 and put it on my '01.I may have had to redrill the holes in the hitch to match the mounts in the 01,the 95 had plates that slid down the frame rails, and the 01 has the factory skid plate with the threaded plates already in.
