I'm running stock gears in my 8.25 on 35's, no problem. XJfreakHO on here, turns 36's with his 8.25, but is regeared and welded the spider gears. I've seen him in action and that axle has yet to back down.

I have the 4.0 auto and have plenty enough power. Enough power to do a badass one legged burnout on dry pavement.

My first and second gear are good it just third and fourth that are lacking power. When I get new tires I am roasting these old ones

You can get 1541H 29 spline axles for the Chrysler 8.25 and it will be stronger than most Dana 44s with stock axles. The only problem with the 8.25 is that it is harder to find lockers for the the Chrysler axle.

Everything sounds sweet except the D35 and good luck with the high pinion 9.

One downfall, D35 or 8.25, is they are both C-clip type axles

this is not entirely true, cause the 97 and later 8.25 came with 29 spline axle shafts while the earlier years came with 27 spline ones, and 3" axle tube for all years, yet the Dana 44 has a much bigger ring gear, slightly longer pinion shaft and 30 spline axle shafts for all years. now don't get me wrong the 8.25 is a good axle (except for being a c-clip type), but i would take a Dana 44 over it any day, and it has a lot more gear and locker options out there by far. oh and just a quick and odd tip, the Dana 44 for the Cherokee used 2 3/4" axle tubes while the Chrysler 8.25 used 3" axle tubes...strange right?
