Default 8.25 limited slip

I purchased an 8.25 rear-end that was out of an xj. It does not have the tag, but the person that I bought told me that it is the newer 29 spline with 3.55 gears which I believe will match gears on my front dana 30 with 3.55 gears..... its not installed yet, but on the work bench so I can do the disc conversion. But I want to know if it's a limited slip, (when I spin the axel, they spin opposite direction, which I believe it means that it's open...anyway, how can I convert to limited? And would it be better to install locker? It's a daily driver, and occasionally dirt trails. No rock climbing. Any other upgrades I should be thinking about too?

This is coming from a guy who ended up with his '88 on a rollback to get the LSD dialed in. I replaced my open diff, checked the interface between the ring and pinion, shimmed it like I thought was correct and went for a test drive. As the rear diff got warm, I got a vibration. So into one of my customer's(at the time I worked for TRW/Federal-Mogul). They fixed it.

They gave me confidence however to try again if the need ever arises. They said that I had it a bit too tight and one of the shims had cracked. After they were done, I drove that thing for over a 100K miles without a hiccup.

As far as what type, for me it would be a factory style LSD. I'm not a "wheeler" so I am okay with 3 wheels pulling when I put in 4WD.
