I was thinking the same, but over where I am there aren't many at all.. Other than the junkyard in town the closest i can find is a 3 hour drive.. The problem with the junkyard in town is that they will probably charge me 300 plus a fee to take it out. They are not good to work with. So i was thinking what if i ordered a Aussie or a Powertrax?

It's a little hard to say from the pictures but how do you use the Jeep? The Chrysler 8.25 is supposed to be pretty tough if maintained properly. Did you take a swim?

I got it last year and the spider gears were a little chewed when I changed the fluid which was probably never changed with 150k miles.. I did go thru some creeks on a trial a few weeks ago but They were nothing deep. What are your opinions on if I buy a powertrax noslip to drop in?

what year 8.25 is it? 1997+ have 29 spline shafts, vs the older 27 splines.

29s are supposedly comparable to a 44 in strength, and worth rebuilding. i would find a locker, master bearing/seal kit, and maybe ring and pinion if they show wear.

I'll be quite surprised if they actually have one.

its a 97 29 spline. The only thing that worries me is that there is like a little tab thing if you look at the 2nd and 3rd to last picture that seems to have moved? i could be wrong tho

thats a retainer for the clutch/steel discs. Easily replaced when replacing clutches.

Since you are considering a No-Slip, make sure you order the one for a Trac-Loc carrier.

You only need to use them if you're going to rebuild the LSD. You won't need them if you install a locker.

I see them on Craigslist all the time. There are four for sale in Phoenix right now, from $75 for a stock axle up to $900 for one with upgraded gears, locker, shafts.
