It's not AA but pretty much the same thing and works. Cheapest one i could find out there.

As for the shaft, i ordered mine directly from tom woods himself.

How detailed were the instructions? That is the only thing I'm worried about. It will be my first time inside a T-case, and there won't be anyone with any more knowlege than me, to help.

Pretty straight forward and detailed well enough to guide someone who's new to it. The directions include some info on removing the bearings on older xj t-cases. Mine didn't have bearings around the shaft so i skipped that one. I would say it's pretty easy with the directions. I breezed through my install in one hour, and i did mine under the jeep only cuz i couldn't' get access to the bolts without removing the darn exhaust.

In a nutshell, you are splitting the case in 1/2, taking off the chain, then the shaft and replacing the stock shaft with the shorter shaft, putting the chain back on with a new speedometer shaft gear, and then putting the case back on. Then you remove the output housing (couple bolts) and replace it with the supplied one. It's not hard at all. The t-case internals aren't complicated and and very few things inside there.

Tip: get the biggest pair of snap ring pliars you can find. Sears has them.
By the way, there's always online write-ups or you can download AA's sye installation directions cuz it's basically the same thing.

Would you go with a front shaft in the rear? That's what i'm running. got a front shaft for $50 and sye for $190 so i spent $240 for everything and it works great. Much better deal than the $600 i paid for my tj's setup and the shaft is twice as short.

I'm going to order my SYE and TW shaft tonight. That is how I want to go. I'm a quality guy so I don't mind dropping the extra money for it when it is necessary.

Well I ordered the AA SYE and TW DS from 4x4groupbuy.com $477 for the both of them together. I talked to someone there thursday morning right after I ordered it and he said best case it would ship that day and worst case it would ship on monday!

Also while I was at work yesterday I was looking through the local wanted ads and ran across a 5speed trans from a 97 wrangler for $75. So I called the guy and asked to check it out, so today I went and picked up a 100k mile ax-15 for $50 for when mine takes a crap (knock on wood)

Sure if you are doing the 231 teardown and mainshaft replacement that will be a great write up. Even the hack n tap is a great write up. I've done both and unless you have some BIG snap ring pliers and an extra set of hands the 231 mainshaft can be difficult to do alone. Not hard or complicated but you have to be multi-task oriented to attempt it alone.
Looking forward to seeing the whole thing done in pics.

I hope it's not too hard to do by myself, because that is how I planned on doing it.

Anyways, Look what I got today.

I plan on starting at about 7:00 tomorrow. I will tackle the SYE first!
