Trust me I don't want to keep them there any longer than I have to. 2 more weeks max. I feel bad depriving my jeep of his new found manhood!

Yeah but on the other hand it is like presents under the tree and you have to await the proper day to unwrap them. Then you become very happy unless they are all socks and underwear. Oh wrong thread.

Come on guys stick with the topic. When are you planning on installing the RE 5.5?

It's okay, a little off topic doesn't hurt, and it will keep the thread alive till I can get the rest of the stuff here. I will order the SYE and TW shaft this week and hopefully it will be here, but it looks like it is about 2 more weeks because of the holiday. I wish the SYE was here because that is what I would do with my day off. Has anyone drove on a RE 5.5" with no SYE? Also how long does it usually take for Tom Woods to make the Driveshaft?

Drive shaft I got was through RE and took about ten days if I remember correctly. It was not a TW though. I drove mine until the shaft & SYE came in but mine was only 3.5 and mine is older but I got no vibrations. I almost didn't install the SYE and shaft. Then I got to thinking that I had them and the were paid for and might be needed after some flexing and subsequent settling. So in they went.

Dont drive with a 5.5 and no SYE you are just asking for trouble in multiple areas of your vehicle.

Kyle is probably right if it is 5.5" then it is too tall to get away without a SYE. I was relating my scenario but I only have 3.5" of RE lift. And mine is a Renix era Jeep so much more forgiving of driveshaft angle.

Keep in mind the RE 5.5" will start out at almost 7" and settle at just over 6"

My 3.5" lift started at 5" and has settled at a hair under 4" So again Kyle has it correct.

That's what I figured, I don't want to even attempt it without a SYE. Where are you guys ordering your AA sye and TW ds's from? I think 4x4groupbuy had the best price at $479 shipped, that I have seen. I just want to make sure that whatever shaft I get will be okay to use when I do my 8.8 swap this fall.

As I stated elsewhere in this thread, I got mine through RE and the box has RE tape all over it, but I don't remember exactly which dealer. Shop around after you know exactly what you want and the RE part# for each part.

That's where i get my sye kit:

It's not AA but pretty much the same thing and works. Cheapest one i could find out there.

As for the shaft, i ordered mine directly from tom woods himself.
