Default 4x4 problems

Went wheeling yesterday, had an awesome time. except, when i put my jeep in 4lo i heard a terrible grinding crunching noise. me and the guys i went with checked it out some more, and in 4hi there was a banging sound, it was in front of the transfer case, so its not that. something with my front axle, and gears i believe. 4lo and hi both work its just the terrible noises coming from them when i use them. anyone have any ideas?

i gotta get this fixed, winter is soon upon us here in michigan
