i just bought a 94 cherokee when i put it in 4 wheel the light on the dash will not come on and doesnt seem to engage my next step is to check the vacumm lines, any ideas

 

should not be any vac lines on a 94. but i could be wrong. they are giving a part for the 96 that i just had to look up as well as being a vac or electric. who knows. here is the part that screws into the t case that turns the light on or off. indicator switch why do you think it's not engaging? put it in 4 wheel and try to turn a tight circle if it barks the tires and feels like it's binding up it's engaged, or you could put it on a lift or jackstands and test it that way..........just be very careful.

 

cool thanks for the help i got under it today and the front drive shaft was not there i found it in the hatch under the carpet. the yoke on the front axle has a lot of play so i'm guessing the bearing is wore pretty bad, my buddy has an axle i'm gong to swap it out and fix the one thats in there for a back up.

 

Did you try to tighten the yoke nut a bit more?

 

yea it didnt fix it, it must be pretty bad
