4x4 posi-lok
man I just installed a 4x4 posi-lok on my 87 cherokee and it was a pain . the cable is so long I could rap it around the front bumper and the machine work was so bad the lock nut didn't fit on the cable and the cable didn't fit in the casting for the front axle .

sounds like you have part number 920, for 6" lifted XJ's...just exchange it for the 900 if you are under 3" lift i just ordered one for my 94 running 88 axles and it works great, i ordered mine off quadratech

yes I have a 6.5" lift on the jeep and yes the kit was a pls-920 and yes I got it in . I would contact the vender I bought it from but I was under the jeep and it wasn't raining and here in western Washington ( the wetside)thats rare so I had to make it work.

I've had one in my YJ for about six years & it's still working nicely. I got the longer one because I was planning a lift.
I'll get to that someday.

well i finaly tried to use mine and the cable was stuck in place. i opened the case up and it still didnt move. removed everything and started from scratch and the cable still would not move. i am very pissed off right now. i opened a dispute about it on Paypal cause i used them to pay for it (they are pretty good about getting me new stuff or money back when i need it) so now i am with a downed rig till they come through! is there any down fall to just locking the axle together permanently? i have a detroit true trac up front and dont want issues. i have a 94 cherokee and it doesn't require the disconnect up front and used to have a solid shaft in the front, but the front axle came locked and geared from my 88 cherokee so it has it. should i just lock the axle together and be done with it?

i would just leave it unlocked that way you still have power going to the drivers front wheel from the locker. remember, these disco axles only use the little 260 u-joints.
you could upgrade the drivers side shaft with one from a non disco axle to get the larger 297 joint tho.

Just to be sure, you know the cable's button can be pushed to allow the cable to be pulled out/pushed in without twisting it.
Also the axle shaft locking collar needs both shafts to "line up" before it can slide over & lock them together.
Moving forward at a slow speed while making shallow "S" turns usually does the trick.

i just pulled my second one out of my xj today. that one didn't work all that well either, so i just left mine disconnected and relied on my locker to give me power to my front drivers wheel for the last couple years.
but now, i threw in my temp non locked, non disco d30, so no more hassles for me.
